BACKGROUND LIFE OUTSIDE THE STUDIO
Hailing from Red Wing, Minnesota, Margaret has been playing the piano since the age of five and singing since she could talk. She caught the performing bug early on as well, starring in musicals and participating in choir, orchestra, and pops concerts throughout school. Margaret's love of music and teaching took her to The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH for her BME, where she focused on voice, piano, and k-12 music education. From there, she joined Up With People, an international service organization with a message of peace conveyed through a full-scale music production.
After traveling across the US performing with UWP, Margaret moved to Washington, D.C., where she taught K-3 general music and 5th-9th grade choir at Maret School. While there, she began teaching private lessons in both piano and vocal performance. After 4 years in DC, the midwest was calling! Margaret has now run her near 50-student studio for over 17 years in St. Louis Park, MN. She loves the personal relationships forged through music and looks forward to many more years of developing lifelong musicians. |
Margaret enjoys a full life outside of running her own studio. She and her husband, Alex, have three children, ages 15, 13, and 9. They love to play outside, go on bike rides and road trips, as well as dance, sing, and perform (which they come by honestly, of course). The Reids also enjoy do-it-yourself projects and consider themselves pretty crafty!
Margaret's passion for community theater and performing had her playing Sandy in "Grease" in DC, as well as Melissa Frake in "State Fair" in Osseo, Mrs. Potts in "Beauty and the Beast" in Osseo, Jack's Mother in "Into the Woods" in New Hope, Mrs. Molloy in "Hello, Dolly" in Edina, and many more. She has been a guest performer at benefits and fundraisers as well. She looks forward to performing again soon! |
